This project was an adaptive re-use of a 30-year old abandoned K-Mart. The project included major upgrades to the building's exterior and the creation of a 15,000 s.f. branch library, a 15,000 s.f. technology services area, and a 42,000 s.f. warehouse. The technology services area serves all buildings in the Jacksonville Public Library system and includes the central information technology system, book acquisition/processing/distribution and the bookmobile. The warehouse also serves the entire system and houses books, computer hardware, supplies, furniture, and an area dedicated to the Friends of the Library. This project received an American Institute of Architects award.
